Person who conceived, updates, analyzes and evaluates programs aimed at the psycho-social rehabilitation of the users.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

The person works under the Community Miyupimaatisiiun Centre (CMC) of Chisasibi which offers front line services. Services are offered by age group Awash (0-9 years), Uschiniishisuu (10-29 years) and Chishayiyuu (30 years and older).

  • Works with people experiencing or at risk of physical, emotional, intellectual or social problems, to help them to resolve conflicts and restore the balance with their environment in cognitive, social, emotional and psychomotor matters;
  • Applies intervention approaches specific to these people, such as individual interviews and psychological tests.
  • Provides services to a variety of clientele along the whole life span and presenting varied conditions.
  • Designs the master program for evaluation, orientation and specialized clinical treatment
  • Defines the tools and methods to be used for evaluation, observation, clinical intervention purposes with the beneficiaries.
  • Assesses the programs and recommends the necessary corrections.
  • Advises the various interveners regarding the programs of activities;
  • Engages in clinical interventions with the beneficiaries in the field of his/her area of competence.
  • Gets involved in researches in the various services;
  • Participates to the interdisciplinary meetings within the framework of the beneficiary’s treatment
  • Close collaboration with the CMC staff including Specials needs educators, Doctors, Nurses, Social workers, Community workers and Social Aides.
  • Produce reports and statistic reports;
  • Carries out other tasks usually assigned to a psycho educator upon the request of his supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Must have a master degree in Psycho education.
  • Member in good standing of OPPQ (Ordre des psychoéducateurs et psychoéducatrices du Québec).

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability in the identification and analysis of the clientele needs;
  • Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge, as applied to coaching and training;
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening communication skills;
  • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, organizational and decision-making skills;
  • High adaptability capacity;
  • Open minded to other's language, culture, values and beliefs;
  • Knowledge of Cree culture and language, social/health issues and Eenou/Eeyou Pimaatsiiun healing practices and paradigm is an asset.
LANGUAGE:
  • Fluent in English;
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
OTHER:
  • Includes on-call periods for the regional psychosocial helpline;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license;
  • Have your own vehicle (an asset)
